We are so excited to announce that we will be reopening for all services on Tuesday, February 16th 😁
We have tried our best over the lockdown to contact those who require vaccines updates but may have missed some of you. Please ensure your pup is current on vaccinations before bringing them in for daycare, grooming and training. If your not sure, please contact us and we would be happy to tell you if your pup is good to go or if their vaccines need updating.
We have contacted all those who’s grooming appointment were cancelled due to our closure and will be working on contacting everyone from our waiting list tomorrow. Please bare with us as our list is lengthy.
Over the weekend we will also be sending emails out to our training classes that were in progress and had to be put on hold for the lockdown to advise of the date of your next class. If you are registered for a class we will be emailing you your new start date. If you have not received an email by Monday, please check your junk mail.
We can’t wait to see you all again!

A Note Of Gratitude…

July 20, 2014 • Author: Ruff Haus

I realized something today while I was standing amidst all the chaos at Customer Appreciatoin Day, taking a moment to absorb what was happening around me. For some people business can be just about the money, and don't get me wrong, money is an important factor in any business. But what I realized today, is that for me, my business is about relationships.

Relationships with staff…We truly have the most genuine dog lovers working at Ruff Haus. What you see is what you get. That is why when you tell us stories about how your dog ate all of your homemade pizza dough, or went on a ski trip with you and got his own little lift pass, or how you have a special toothbrushing routine you do with your dog before bed time-we're interested! Our staff LOVE dogs and they LOVE their jobs. We have the most loving daycare girls in Barrie, who genuinely care for the dogs like their own, and are constantly bragging about which dog did something cuter than the last. We have the most dedicated dog walkers you'll ever meet, who do their job with smiles on their faces no matter what the weather looks like outside becasue they know they have dogs waiting for them. We have an incredible trainer who goes above and beyond to help her students see results and is always the one having the most fun in the room. Our groomer is one of the most talented you'll come across in Barrie, with over 10 years of experience under her belt. Without these girls, Ruff Haus wouldnt be what it is, they are what is setting us apart from other facilities out there.

Relationships with family…I have the BEST most supportive famiily a girl could ask for. My parents are always the first ones through the door at any event Ruff Haus is a part of, and it means the world to me to be able to share this exciting time with them. My husband, who is constantly my go-to guy for repairs, insight, an extra helping hand, and a shoulder to lean on when its been a long day. There aren't enough words to tell all of you how much the success of Ruff Haus has depended on these people.

And finally the most important of all, relationships with our clients. Getting to know all of your dogs is one thing, but getting to know you as individuals is a totally different thing. I love getting to hear your stories and not just about your dogs. Today I spoke to a 89 year old woman who told me she had a broken rib from falling off her bicycle and that she couldnt wait to get back into her kayak. I heard all about a brand new baby, a home that was destroyed by a tornado, and plans for a cruise ship wedding. We had clients call in today who were vacationing out of province, just to be a part of our event (one from NB and one from BC). Its these relationships that make a difference in our business and its these relationships that have created our Ruff Haus family. That is why we have this day set aside for you. Its about spending time with all of you and watching you light up as you talk about your dogs and meet other dog parents who have the same excitement you do.

Its been a crazy couple of years (almost 3 if you can believe it!) and things at Ruff Haus are growing at a rapid pace. Its growing becasue of all of you! Sometimes when I find a moment to myself it blows my mind that this business is as successful as it is. When I stop to think about why that is, I always come back to the same conclusion. Relationships. It makes a difference, and it means the world to me to have all of you (staff, family, friends and clients!) along for this incredible journey. So from the bottom of my heart…thank you.

#NOHOTPETS Take The Pledge!

May 26, 2014 • Author: Ruff Haus

The summer can be a wonderful time for you and your pet. It’s also a time where you need to be careful of the dangers surrounding your animal.  You can help spread the word by sharing how deadly it is to leave your pet in your vehicle. No Hot Pets is a campaign encouraging pet owners to take their pet with them when they park their car. Share this message and take the pledge today! Let’s have no hot pets this summer!

Ruff Haus is encouraging all of our clients to TAKE THE PLEDGE to not leave our dogs in our cars during warm weather. Commit to keeping your dog safe, healthy and happy and set an example for others by being a responsible pet owner and taking your dog with you when you park. You can take the pledge by clicking on the link below.  When you pledge to keep your dog safe this summer you will recieve a free No Hot Pets window decal (while supplies last) for your car!

Fast Facts
• SPCAs across Canada receive hundreds of reports of pets being left in cars every year.
• Parked cars can quickly reach deadly temperatures, even on relatively mild days with the car parked in the shade and the windows slightly open.
• Dogs have a limited ability to sweat; even a short time in a hot environment can be life-threatening. A dog's normal body temperature is about 39°C and a temperature of 41°C can be withstood only for a very short time before irreparable brain damage or even death can occur.
• If you can’t take your pet with you when you leave your car, leave them at home where they are safe.
• It’s imperative that each of us as animal owners is responsible in providing the proper care for our pets. As such, leaving a pet unattended in a vehicle is one of the most irresponsible things a pet owner can do.
• Owners who choose to leave pets unattended in vehicles, may face charges under the Ontario SPCA Act or the Criminal Code of Canada.
• If heat stroke is suspected (excessive panting and drooling, listlessness or unconsciousness) prompt veterinary medical attention is vital. In the meantime, wet the fur immediately with lukewarm to cool water, not cold water. Bring the pet into the shade and offer drinking water.

If you observe an animal suffering in the heat, contact the Ontario SPCA or your local humane society at 310-SPCA (7722) or call your local police services.
