Daycare Policies

Reservations Are Required

To ensure we can provide every dog in our care with the appropriate level of supervision, attention and space, all daycare visits must be reserved in advance. While we will always do our best to accommodate booking requests, availability cannot be guaranteed once daycare has reached capacity.

For your convenience, dogs who attend on a regular basis may be set up with a reoccurring daycare schedule. This reserves your dog’s attendance days and eliminates the need to book each visit individually. Please contact our team if you would like to arrange a reoccurring schedule for your dog.

Please note: All dogs attending daycare must arrive before 1:30pm.

Daycare Assessments

Before attending daycare, all dogs must successfully complete a complimentary one-hour assessment. This assessment allows our experienced team to evaluate your dog’s comfort level, behaviour, social interactions and overall suitability for our daycare environment. 

Prior to your dog’s assessment, a completed daycare application and proof of current vaccinations must be submitted. Applications can be submitted online and vaccinations records may be email to [email protected] or sent by text to 705-739-7833. Once you have completed your application, please contact our office to schedule your dog’s assessment.

Important Information: If your dog has not attended daycare for more than 6 months, a reassessment is required before returning. This allows us to ensure that daycare continues to be a safe, comfortable and appropriate environment for your dog as behaviour and social preferences can change over time.

The following is a list of our pricing for both single day and packages. All prices include HST. Packages never expire.

* Dog’s over 5 hours are subject to a jump to full day flat rate of $10.00. This applies to both single day and packages.

*Once a package has been used, no refunds will be issued. Packages are only transferrable to another dog owned by the same person, living in the same house and that has successfully completed and passed a daycare assessment. 

Hours 

Our daycare is open Monday to Friday from 6:30am – 7:00pm. Please note that we are closed daily from 12:00pm – 1:00pm for our daycare resting/feeding period. No pick up’s/drop off’s are available during this time. All dg’s are required to be in daycare by 1:30pm.  If your half day time is lapsed during this period, you will be required to pay for a jump to full day flat rate of $10.00.

To ensure our team can maintain consistent operating hours, all dogs must be picked no later than our 7:00pm closing time.

We understand that unexpected circumstances can occasionally cause delays. If you anticipate that you will be unable to pick up your dog by closing, please contact our office as soon as possible to make alternate arrangements for your dog to be picked up. 

Dogs picked up after 7:00pm will be subject to a late pick-up fee of $1.00 per minute, per dog. In cases of repeated late pick-ups, the late fee increases to $5.00 per minute, per dog and continued failure to adhere to our operating hours will result in the suspension or termination of daycare services. 

Vaccinations

To help protect the health and safety of all dogs in our care. all dogs attending Ruff Haus must remain current on our required vaccinations. Required vaccinations include Rabies, DHPP and Bordatella. All vaccinations must be administered by a licensed veterinarian, and proof of vaccination must be provided before your dog attends daycare. New vaccinations must be administered 48 hours prior to attending. Puppies may begin attending once they have received their second set of core vaccinations and bordatella. 

Important Vaccine Information:It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure their dog’s vaccinations remain current and provide us with updated records as vaccinations are renewed. Dog’s with expired vaccines will not be permitted to attend daycare until the required vaccinations have been updated and current proof has been provided. For the health and safety of our daycare community, we do not accept titre testing in place of required vaccinations., Vaccinations requirements are in place to help maintain a safe and healthy environment for every dog in our care.

Parasites

To help protect the health and well-being of all dogs in our care, all dogs attending daycare are required to be on an appropriate flea and tick prevention program. Prevention is required from June through November. We recommend speaking with your vet to determine the most appropriate preventative treatment for your dog.

If fleas or ticks are discovered on your dog while in our care, your dog will be immediate removed from the play area and the appropriate measures to address the immediate concern will be taken at the owner’s expense. Daycare services may also be temporarily suspended until the issue has been resolved. This policy helps protect all dogs in our care.

Dogs diagnosed with or being treated for a contagious internal parasite, including but not limited to roundworm, tapeworm, hookworm, giardia or coccidia may not attend daycare while treatment is ongoing. 

Before returning to daycare, veterinary confirmation that treatment has been completed and a negative/clear test result will be required to ensure it is safe for your dog to return.

Spaying and Neutering

To support a safe, comfortable and well-managed daycare environment, all dogs over 6 months of age must be spayed or neutered in order to attend daycare. We encourage owner’s to plan accordingly and discuss the appropriate timing of their dog’s spay or neuter with their veterinarian. 

Pet Health/Behaviour and Safety

The health, safety and well-being of every dog and member at Ruff Haus is our highest priority., We reserve the right to refuse, suspend or discontinue daycare services if we believe a dog’s health, physical condition or emotional well-being could place themselves, another dog or a member of our team at risk. 

Illness

All dogs must be in good health to attend daycare. Dogs experiencing vomiting, diarrhea or other signs of illness must be symptom free for a minimum of 48 hours before attending. Dogs that exhibit signs of a potentially contagious illness such as coughing, sneezing, increased temperature and other signs/symptoms of kennel cough, are required to be absent from daycare for 2 weeks following the last symptom. If symptoms develop while your dog is in our care, they will be safely separated from the gup and you will be contacted to arrange prompt pick-up.

We may administer routine medications for stable or chronic conditions when appropriate arrangements have been made in advance. However, our daycare is not equipped to provide medical care pr supervision for dogs who are acutely ill, injured, or require ongoing medical monitoring.

Behaviour

Dogs must be behaviourally appropriate for a daycare environment. Dogs displaying aggression or behaviour that ,ay pose a safety risk to themselves, other dogs, or our team will not be accepted or will have their daycare privileges discontinued.

All dogs must successfully complete our complimentary daycare assessment before being accepted into the daycare program. Acceptance into daycare is not permanent or guaranteed. A dog’s behaviour, health, comfort level and suitability for daycare may change over time, and we will continually make decisions based on what is safest and best for the individual dog and the group as a whole.

For the safety and well-being of dogs in our care, our trained team may use appropriate handling, management or safety equipment when necessary such as head halters, slip leashes, vibration collars and crates. Any equipment or techniques used will be selected based on the individual dog and situation, with safety and humane care as out priority. 

We will always prioritize the physical, mental and emotional well-bring of the dogs entrusted to our care. If we have any concerns about your dog’s health, behaviour, safety or enjoyment of daycare, we will communicate openly and transparently with you and recommend what we believe is in your dog’s best interest. 

Respectful Conduct & Right to Refuse or Terminate Services

Ruff Haus is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and professional environment for our staff, clients, and the dogs in our care. Clients are expected to conduct themselves respectfully in all interactions with Ruff Haus staff, clients, and representatives, whether in person, by telephone, by email, through social media, or by any other form of communication.

Abusive, threatening, intimidating, harassing, discriminatory, defamatory, or otherwise inappropriate conduct toward our staff, clients, or business will not be tolerated. Ruff Haus reserves the sole discretion to refuse, suspend, or terminate services immediately if a client engages in such conduct or violates any of our policies or procedures.

Where services are refused, suspended, or terminated due to a client’s conduct or a breach of Ruff Haus policies, the client shall not be entitled to any refund, credit, or compensation for any unused services, packages, memberships, or prepaid fees, except where required by applicable law.
